Sports Gambling

Betting on sports has always been a fun way to make the game more interesting and more important. Although I never thought of it as sports gambling until it became a problem, I definitely was into making your occasional friendly wager for a long time. Gambling on sports, you see, was the only reason to watch the game. After all, after awhile it all looked like the same thing over and over again. The same teams make the same tackles and the same touchdowns – it really would have been dull and monotonous if not for the friendly bets and the beer. Sports gambling was what made it all worthwhile.

When I decided to gamble on sports more seriously, however, I made a decision that almost cost me my entire life savings. You see, I had been on quite a winning streak that year. Every sports gambling decision I had made had paid off. I had even bet against the odds a few times and made a killing off of some of my friends. I would only bet about 20 dollars a game, but for the whole season I was up a couple hundred. I decided to take sports gambling to the next level. I was sure that I would win, and what’s wrong with betting a hundred dollars on a game now and then?

Unfortunately, the first time I tried sports gambling, I had the worst luck that a beginning gambler could have: I won big. I bet against the spread and it ended up being an upset. Off of the hundred dollars that I put down, I made a cool thousand. I was confident that sport gambling was something that I could not lose at.

The next couple of bets that I made did not go so well, but I held on to hope. I knew that I had made money all season, and although I was only breaking even now, victory was only another bet away. Unfortunately, sports gambling didn’t go that way for me. I lost money, placed more bets to try to make it up, and ended up losing even more money. By the time I finally came to my senses and tried to come up for air, I had lost thousands of dollars to sports gambling. Although some people end up much worse, it was still upsetting for me to realize that I had an addiction. I haven’t gambled in a couple of years now, and I haven’t wanted to either.
