What he is saying makes a lot of sense in that there usually is a strong psychosocial component to ” mental illness”, and psychaitry as it is practiced today with a stong emphasis on pharmacology needs a fundamental transformation. However, one shouldn’t say ” mental illness” has no biologic or organic component at all. When I hear voices that are not there and have out of the world delustions, it somehow does not make sense to say my problem is only psychological. It is probably aslo biological

I understand that Psychiatric diagnoses are diagnostically diapers right now, this is how all medical specialties were born. It is my belief that in the near future more of these diseases or disorders may be demonstrated by functional MRI’s or similar new technologies. They will then be recognized as neurological disorders instead of mental disorders. What is the alternative you propose? Stop medicating all psychiatric disorders and let them suicide,? run wild on the streets? or lock them up?

People like this use words like , depression, bi-polar , personality disorder .ect ect.
When diagnosing someones mental state and gaining trust .
